My favourite time of the day: mornings
I love the mornings. I love to wake up early, do some exercise, eat a good and energising breakfast, take a nice shower and get myself ready for the day. I genuinely like to have a few hours for myself before work starts, or before I am on my way to various appointments. What I just mentioned is part of my rutine and it is one that I have adjusted over the years based on where I am, whether or not I was on my own or with friends, family or a partner, and how much time I have.
Some of my morning best practises include:
1. Hydrate and Energise: Start your day off by hydrating your body after a good night’s sleep. A glass of water just as you wake up helps to flush toxins and wake you up gently, a little slice of lemon is a great addition
2. Fuel Your Body: Never skip breakfast! Picking a healthy and balanced meal provides you with energy throughout the morning. Look for options with whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and lean protein
3. Move Your Body: Exercise is the best way to boost your mood, improve focus, and increase energy . Even a 20-minute walk or an at-home matt session can make a big difference
4. Embrace the Light: Natural sunlight exposure in the morning is key. This contributes to regulate your circadian rhythm, and activate your natural alertness throughout the day
5. Practice Mindfulness: Take a few minutes for meditation, deep breathing, or journaling to clear your head and set your intentions for the day. This can help reduce stress and improve your overall well-being
6. Plan and Prioritise: Take some time to plan your day and prioritise your tasks. This will help you stay focused and help you get your tasks done
7. Recognise the Simple Things: Prioritise time for activities you enjoy, such as reading a book, listening to music, or spending time with loved ones. Starting your day with something positive can set the tone for the entire day
Regardless of your routine, some things are remain the same
One constant throughout whatever changes might happen in your life is the fact that we all get ready in the morning and we all get ready for bed. So, we need to have a space that has everything we need, plus a few small add-ons just to make the morning and nights just a tad more pleasant.
